Approach
This project aimed to make the process of lesson preparation easy, fast, and as short as possible. Powered by OpenAI, prompts were created and embedded into a series of chats with simple answers that tutors can choose from. Several scenarios were created, and each scenario has its own prompt to generate the perfect plan for the tutor.
We already have the subjects that tutors are teaching, students’ grades, and several data points to streamline the process. Additionally, there are options for tutors to enter information for students outside Orcas, whether for private sessions or classes at school. It is truly the tutor’s best friend.
First part
The student details we are preparing this plan for
Number of students? School system? School system?
School grades? learning style?
Second part
The subject details
What is the subject? Area of studying? Unit name?
objective?
Third part
The content, method used to present the content and what activity can be used
Learning method (learning style), Session duration, and place (online or offline), Do we need to add homework?
After finding the perfect prompt we broke it in to a series of questions Each question will be linked to a part of the prompt that will generate the plan
Research
The research process for the project began by consulting Orcas’ experienced team of teachers for insights on curriculum design, session planning, and in-app quizzes and assessments. We outlined the essential elements and student data required to create tailored session plans.
Through experimentation, we tested various prompts to determine which would deliver the most effective guidance for teachers. To refine this further, we conducted a workshop aimed at filtering out key information and identifying prompts that would generate the best outcomes for session planning.
This iterative approach helped ensure that the project met both teacher and student needs effectively.
